Copper (CU) sealing rings

Copper sealing rings (Cu, DIN 7603) are flat metal washers designed for static sealing of threaded connections. Thanks to its malleability, copper is ideal — when tightened, it adapts to minor irregularities in the mating surfaces and ensures a perfect seal without the need for additional sealant.

Where copper rings are used

Hydraulics and pneumatics (sealing of fittings, reducers, valves), the automotive industry (fuel injection, cylinder heads, braking systems), industrial machinery (lubrication systems, gearboxes), air conditioning and refrigeration technology. Also suitable for gas installations.

  • 122 standard sizes according to DIN 7603 (inner × outer diameter × thickness)
  • Material: pure copper, annealed for ductility
  • For both metric and imperial threads

How to select a copper ring

Three dimensions are crucial: inner diameter (must match the thread diameter), outer diameter (maximum size of the seating surface) and thickness (typically 1, 1.5, 2 mm). Before installation, anneal the ring (~600 °C, water cooling) to restore ductility if it has been stored for a long time. Replace with a new one after each removal — copper does not spring back into shape.
