MVQ material (silicone)

Silicone rubber (MVQ, VMQ) is an elastomeric material with excellent properties at extreme temperatures (-60 to +200 °C, up to +230 °C for short periods). It is biocompatible and resistant to UV radiation, ozone and weathering.

What is silicone used for?

Seals in the automotive industry (engine oils, coolants), the food and pharmaceutical industries (FDA + USP Class VI), medical technology, kitchen appliances, sterilisers and ovens. Silicone is the first choice for hot steam, water and air.

How to choose a silicone seal

Standard MVQ silicone is suitable for most applications. For food contact, choose FDA-certified / food-grade silicone. For mechanically demanding applications, glass-reinforced silicone or silicone with higher hardness (70–80 Shore A) is available. Silicone has lower resistance to oils and fuels — in such cases, use FPM (Viton).
