V-belts are the most commonly used component in mechanical transmission systems for transferring rotary motion – and thus mechanical energy – from one shaft to another. Their applications range from small domestic appliances, through compressors, blowers and production lines, to the drives of units in motor vehicles, machinery, agriculture, etc.

Parameters for identifying the dimensions and type of belt.
La Outer length (circumference).
Li Internal length (circumference).
Lw=Lp=Ld Calculated length. Measured along the circumference of the neutral fibres, which retain the same length when the belt is bent (approximately at 2/3 of the belt’s height).
b = 6 mm Width of the outer base of the belt.
h = 4 mm Belt height.
bw = 5.3 mm Calculated width. The width of the belt at the neutral fibres.
