V-belts are the most commonly used component in mechanical transmission systems for transferring rotary motion – and thus mechanical energy – from one shaft to another. Their applications range from small domestic appliances, through compressors, blowers and production lines, to the drives of power units in motor vehicles, machinery, agriculture, etc.
Multiple belt drives can be fitted with individual belts or with multiple belts, where the backs of the individual belts are joined by a common strip. In many cases, the use of individual belts is sufficient, and the drive need only be fitted with belts that have the required length tolerance for the set. However, if you are fitting a more demanding application, it is preferable to use a multiple belt. The power transmitted is the same as when using individual belts. However, in the drive, the multiple belt does not slip; it is quieter, ensures uniform tension and is better protected against mechanical damage.
